WHY FOREST CERTIFICATION IN GHANA?
Forest certification is a tool for identifying a well-managed forest.
During the past four decades, the problems associated with the use of tropical forest have increased. Much of the forest areas have been cut down and the remaining forest is degraded.
Consumers of tropical forest products in Western Europe (Ghana’s biggest timber export market) are concerned about the source of forest products. They want to be assured that forest products they buy, originate from sustainably managed forests.
